Frequently Asked Questions
WHAT DOES MY PAYMENT COVER? Your 1-time payment covers everything for summer swim (other than suit and goggles). Meet participation is included and you do not pay for each event your swimmer is in. So specifically it includes Coaching, Practices, 2 home meets, 2 away meets, 1 Champs meet, and 1 All-Star Meet (if qualified). No hidden fees!
IS THIS A YEAR-ROUND SWIM TEAM? No, The RipTide is a summer seasonal swim program of Boerne Elite Aquatics, our parent organization, which is a year-round program. Our practices are separate from BEA and The RipTide is part of the Maverick Summer Swim League.
HOW LONG IS THE SEASON? Practices begin at the beginning of May. Our meets begin the last week of May/beginning of June and run through the beginning of July. (See the Meets tab for our meet schedule)
WHERE ARE PRACTICES HELD? Our team practices at the Boerne City Pool.
WHAT AGES CAN SWIM? We register boys and girls, ages 5-18. Age is determined as of June 1.
ARE TRY-OUTS REQUIRED? We are a summer-league competitive team; therefore, we recommend that all swimmers can swim at minimum the length of a 25 yard pool without any assistance or grabbing of lane lines. We do not currently require an additional try-out to be a part of the team. During the first weeks of practice, we will be working with each swimmer to ensure they are able to safely cross the pool in at least one stroke.
WHAT IS THE REGISTRATION FEE AND WHAT DOES IT INCLUDE? Registration fees are $185 for the first swimmer in a family, $175 for any additional swimmers. Current Boerne Elite Year-Round swimmers also receive a discount. Registration includes a team t-shirt for each swimmer, swim cap, and meet fees. Additional t-shirts for family members, extra swim caps, and team swim suit are available for an additional price.
WHAT DOES MY SWIMMER NEED TO SWIM? Each swimmer should have a competition style swim suit, googles and cap (provided - required for long hair).
IS THERE A TEAM SWIM SUIT? Yes, MSSL is sponsored by Speedo and we have a team suit. We will have a suit fitting to make it easier or you can go to the store or online and purchase independently. Remember, this is a summer league, tech suits are not permitted.
